User handbook

Welcome to t·AI·pset

Your guided workspace for taking a finished Scripture translation from Paratext to a print-ready Bible, in seven steps.

This manual shows you how to use the t·AI·pset website, from asking for an account to downloading your PDFs. Each part explains what you will see, what you need to do, and how to move your book to the next step.

Every step has a short demonstration taken from the real website. A yellow pointer shows where to click, and a caption says what happens. Click any demonstration to see the screen full size.

Follow the journey of a book

A project is one translation: one or more books exported from Paratext. From upload to download, it moves through seven steps.

Each step must be finished before the next one opens. The tool remembers where you stopped, so you can leave and come back at any time.

1

Bring in your script

Paratext, USFM or USX
  • Export your project from Paratext — the whole folder is best, because it brings the word lists and key terms.
  • Press Choose files — the Open Files window opens. Go to your scripts folder and click your book, here Project1.SFM. Hold Ctrl (⌘ on a Mac) to pick several.
  • Press Open — the orange button at the top right. The drop area turns green and lists the book.
  • Say which project it belongs to — pick one under Select project, or type a new name under Add new project.
  • Press Upload — answer the questions about pictures and standard SFM, then press Continue →.
DEMO

Choose files: from the Open Files window to “received”.

Or choose a whole folder

  • Press Choose a folder — the Select Folder window opens.
  • Click your project folder — here Project1 — and press Select. Your browser may ask you to confirm.
  • Press Upload — every book, plus the settings and word lists, is sent together. The project takes the folder’s name.
DEMO

Choose a folder: every book in the folder is selected at once.

Already uploaded?

Your projects are listed under A project already here. Click a card to carry on where you left off.

Correction done in SFM

The tool checks your books against the standard SFM format. If it tidied any markers, it asks whether to use the corrected book. Every word of your text stays the same.

DEMO

Figures found in your SFM

If your books ask for pictures with \fig, the tool asks whether to put them in the PDF.

Permission

Give us the okay to start
  • Read what the check will do — the reports change nothing; the check fixes only markup, spacing and punctuation, never a translated word.
  • Press Yes, go ahead → — the Spelling report, Key terms and Typeset check run one after another.
  • Wait for “Check complete!” — about a minute or two for a New Testament. Then press Continue →.

Clean-up review

Approve or fix each change

The check groups what it found into cards. Blockers come first. Nothing changes without your say-so.

  • 👍 Approve — accept the suggested fix. Approve all does the whole card.
  • Leave as is — keep the original line.
  • ✏️ Manual edit — open the line yourself, fix it and press 💾 Save.

Front pages

The Front pages tab sets the pages in front of the complete book, as a printed Bible has them: the cover, the title page, the publication data, the credits and an introduction. Each one is switched on separately.

  • Type the title and sub-title — they stand on the cover, the title page and the publication data page.
  • Cover page and Title page — switch them on and pick a border for each. Add a logo for the title page if you have one.
  • Publication data — the heading, the copyright, a licence logo, the licence text, and the foot of the page (contact, edition, ISBN, printer).
  • Credits page — the credits for pictures and maps.
  • Introduction — your own text, as many pages as it takes. A line starting with # is a heading.

Ask for a helper

A translator fixes your Clean-up review for you

If the corrections need someone who knows the language, such as your translator, invite them as a helper. The helper works on the Clean-up review of one project only. They cannot see any other page or project, and their access ends as soon as you approve their work.

Changes stay; access ends.

1 · The owner asks for a helper

  • Press 👥 Ask for a helper — at the top of the Clean-up review (step 3).
  • Enter the helper's name and email — here Translator 1 and translator.one@example.com. The address must not already have a t·AI·pset account.
  • Add a note — say what needs fixing.
  • Press Send request to admin. Every administrator gets an email.

5 · The owner approves, and the helper’s access ends

  • Open the project — Changes by your helper lists every changed line, before and after, with their message.
  • Happy? Press ✓ Approve and end access — the changes stay, and the helper’s account is switched off.
  • Something to fix? — write a note and press Send back. The page opens for the helper again.

The helper can and can’t

They can edit lines, approve cards, use the spelling and key-term reports, and send the work back. They cannot upload, check again, delete, change the style or page settings, typeset, download, or open any other project.

Emails at each stage

Administrators are emailed about the request. The helper is emailed when invited, sent back or approved. You are emailed when the request is approved and when the helper sends the work back.

Books and quotes

Every account can typeset 1 book free. More books are added after a quote is agreed. A book counts once, so typesetting it again is free. Books are counted when you press Go to Typeset.

Step 4 shows your balance, for example “📚 Your account: 3 books (1 free + 2 agreed) · used 1 · 2 left”.

More books need a quote

If a project has more new books than you have left, typesetting stops. Upload only the books you want, or press Request a quote.

The quote form has four parts: your details; project and language (Paratext project ID, language, ISO 639-3 code, script, direction); what needs typesetting; outputs and timing. The team aims to reply within 5 working days.

The administrator’s work

Admins and Super Admins have a console menu: Dashboard, Typesetting tool, Projects, Users, Quote requests, Activity, Emails and My account. A User sees only their own projects; administrators see everyone’s, marked with the owner’s name.
